Capital Campaign - Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I make a pledge that I am unable to fulfill? Or if I make a pledge, and am able to give more? We fully understand that circumstances change – sometimes for the worse, and sometimes for the better. The important thing is to simply keep in contact with us so we know what to expect. As you know, this is a “pay as you go” campaign – and we simply need to know what to plan for. Back to Top
Must the payment be spread out between the 3 years? No. If you are able, it is best to receive the amount up front. The sooner we receive money, the sooner we are able to begin projects. However, if needed, you may take the 3 years to pay off your commitment. The key, again, is communication with the Capital Campaign team on your plans. Back to Top
I’d like my money to go to the upper stained glass windows. What if not enough money is collected for the overall campaign and you decide to cancel the windows project? First, if you specify to have your money directed to a particular project, it is documented as such. Once that project reaches its goal, we may move ahead and begin to implement that project. We do not intend to transfer monies between projects without personal contact with donors. (And besides – the windows seem to be a very popular item!) Back to Top
Will there be other memorial or naming opportunities? Yes, and we’ll be communicating those options soon. Back to Top
Can a donation be made by a parish group? Certainly! In fact, we’ve already had our first group come forward. The new S.O.S. (Sober on Sunday) group within SMM is planning to sponsor one of the penitent door windows. Back to Top
Why aren’t items like carpet, painting and pew renovation on the list of projects? We agree there are other needs, and could add even more projects to the list. If we exceed our $ goal, the additional monies can be spent on those types of projects. And, we don’t want our parish to go into debt. We figure - money talks! If we as a parish want these things taken care of, then we will step up to the plate financially and take care of them! Back to Top
With the projects of 2006 well underway, when will the phase 2 projects start? In keeping with our “no debt” philosophy, we must have the funds on hand to begin the next projects. The money we have collected so far will replenish what we “borrowed” from our savings account for Phase 1. We hope to see an influx of dollars in September – after Fr. Phong begins his telephone campaign! Back to Top
After this dreadfully hot summer, will you consider moving up the Air Conditioning project? Yes. In fact, we will bring forward the Air Conditioning project to Phase 2 (estimated 2007) and move the Parking Lot replacement to Phase 3 (estimated 2008). Back to Top
